Chris grew up in Bedford and graduated from Manchester High School West. Chris and his wife Joanne raised their son Drew in Bedford. Drew is a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and is currently stationed in Pensacola, FL where he is attending flight school. Chris and Joanne now reside in Mont Vernon.

Chris started his law enforcement career serving as a deputy sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He graduated from the 81st full time NH Police Academy in 1988. Chris served as a deputy sheriff and a sergeant with the Sheriff’s Office until 1993 at which time he joined the Goffstown Police Department. Chris served as a patrol officer, detective and sergeant with the Goffstown Police Department.

In 2003 Chris joined the Dunbarton Police Department and served as the department’s Executive Officer and Chief of Police. Chris guided the department’s voluntary participation in The Commission for Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) program. The Dunbarton Police Department was the smallest department in the country to have maintained this high level of professional recognition during Chris’ tenure.

In 2011 Chris returned to his roots at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s serving as the agencies Chief Deputy. In this role he was responsible for the day to day operations of the agency. He was also accountable for the development, presentation, implementation and control of the Sheriff’s Office budget. He served as a liaison to various local, state, county and federal law enforcement agencies, judges and court personnel.

Chris worked as a Special Assistant to United States Senator Kelly Ayotte. In this role Chris focused on First Responder, Homeland Security and Justice Issues.  He served as liaison with various local, county, state and federal law enforcement, public safety, and Homeland Security officials. Chris also had the distinct pleasure of regularly interacting with and assisting active duty members of our military and veterans. Chris served as Senator Ayotte’s instate point person to develop and maintain relationships with members of the prevention, treatment, recovery and public safety communities in an effort to develop and implement a coordinated response to the heroin/fentanyl/opioid public health crisis impacting New Hampshire.

Chris has experience working and volunteering in the non-profit world as well as experience in the small business arena. Serving as a business manager in a small law firm has provided him with extremely valuable private sector business experience.

Chris currently serves as a deputy sheriff and is currently working on a complete revision of the agencies policy manual. This project is nearing completion. The manual will provide members of the Sheriff’s Office will operational guidance and outline standards to assist in the provision of highly effective, professional service to the residents of Hillsborough County. Policies and procedures that meet nationally accepted standards have been shown to reduce liability exposure for those agencies that employ them.
